Ten minutes to midnight. New Years eve. Noah Kuttler, known to those that actually knew him as the Calculator wasn't celebrating at the Penguins party at the Iceberg. Nor was he behind his computer consoles answering questions and planning to do evil. Instead he was standing outside in the cold, watching as others celebrated the New Year. His valued computer system that would put any government agency to shame was shut down and all he had on him was a few cell phones and a PDA. All in all, he was not the Calculator right now. In fact he was surrendering to Oracle and the GCPD. Or so he led them to believe.
The deal was his life, his freedom, for the knowledge of who Oracle was. But he knew, he knew that she wouldn't come. He wasn't an idiot. In fact, he never planned on her showing up. That's why he was half a mile away, on quite a different rooftop watching through a telescope the top of the Iceberg Lounge, where he was supposed to meet her. It was now just a few moments to midnight, and police cars were pulling up around the Lounge. He'd have to apologize to Ozzie for that as well as what was about to happen. It was sad, the man didn't even have a full year in office before he lost his city. Oh well, he was still on the Societies council, that would have to do for him. Because Gotham wasn't on the table anymore.
He hated this city with a passion that he didn't know he had. It and everything about it represented one major pain in the side of all of his plans. So, like any cancer, he was cutting it out. Last time he had touched the town, it burned for four days straight while chaos ruled. Now? Now he was bringing down the full might of the Society on this city and the violence wouldn't stop until even the rubble was destroyed. The only down side? When Oracle died, he still would never know who she was. Oh well, such is life.
Now, as the police and what he assumed was the Oracle stand-in swarmed the roof and looked about confused, he saw the ball make it's drop. Ten seconds to 2007, everyone hoping it'd be a good year. It would for only one person, the rest, well not so much. Pulling out his PDA, he sent the command code that it had waiting, it's only job was to send it to the satalite in orbit. Almost as soon as the button was pushed, signals and relays lite up and a system that made his look like a fisher-price toy began to inact his plan. Breaking down firewals and chewing through security like they were candy floss, it seized everything he would need and sent activations signals to everything he had planted. The go aheads or 'party invitations' to every villain that had been invited and was now in Gotham were sent and, as the ball and the countdown reached zero and the crowds went wild, Noah smiled and spoke softly only to himself.
"Happy New Year"
Then everything went up in fire.
To be more exact, the ball exploded, or the explosives inside. As the flaming shrapnel rained down on the crowds, other explosives went off, blowing up police stations, hospitals, power station relays, phone lines, fire stations, schools, businesses, residential homes and apartments. All at random, all in a pattern. The pattern of chaos and fear. A pity Jonathan was out of town, he would have loved it. Firefly most likely was soiling himself in glee as the second round of explosions went off, these however were not just bombs, these were fire excellerents spreading flames high into the sky. Across the city, emergency generators were targeted by small EMP devices set just within range of them, shutting them down. Meanwhile water mains shut off while gas mains piped their contents into the air. Gotham was dying and not even God himself could save it. But he wasn't taking any chances. Now Villains everywhere were on the move, their targets given to them. Heroes, every hero there was. Kill them, keep them busy, it didn't make much mind to Kuttler. He wanted them all dead. Then of course, his ego was responsible for what happened next. While there was no power and now signals from any TV or radio stations, all TVs, radios and large outdoor screens most of which were downtown amidst the flames, came to life with his pre-recorded image.
"Hello. I'll skip the rant and the witty threats at your pain and misery. I'm going to get right to it. This is for you Oracle. All for you. This is my revenge for everything you and your friends have done, you and Nightwing and Robin and Batman and all of the others. All of this is for you my dear. Right now villains are pouring into the streets, giving way to all of their base needs and impulses. Their main want? To kill your hero friends. We are simple people. Now i'm sure you're angry, which is why i'll keep my promise. Half of it anyway since you kept none of yours. I promised to give you my system, so get it you shall. You see, I upgraded since the last time we tangled. Windows can only let me do so much and I found a much more powerful processor. Brother Eye. And while someone wiped it's memory banks of all of your little hero secrets, it's still the most advanced AI in the world. It's also the most advanced computer system in the world. And it hates Gotham as much as me, it also hates Batman and you something fierce. We get along great. But the best part? It has a virus. An OMAC virus. Which, with some slight tampering, works better then before. You see, now they keep their free will. Or as much free will as League of Assassin ninjas have. Yes, imagine it. The OMAC merged with the deadliest most ruthless fighters on the planet. It's just great. Sure I had to make a deal with a devil, or in this case The One Who Is All, and yes i'm playing second fiddle on this run, but it's worth. Oh how it's worth it. You see, I want to cause you pain, so much pain that your great big bleeding heart just up and dies. So you have this. All of this. Enjoy it my dear, because this is not just the beginning of the New Year, it's the last night of Gotham's life."
Now all of the airwaves dropped dead as scores of dark blue figures soared into the sky. OMACs, moving like Assassins. All in all there were 10,000 of them. The virus took alot to create and modify so they could think for themselves and still use their training. It was why he wanted those thugs from Oswald. It was why Double Down kidnapped the homeless. All to test it. All but a few died. But it was worth it. Taking out a syringe, he rolled up his sleeve and, making a fist, stuck the needled in his arm. Pushing the plunger down, he injected the Virus into himself. He could feel it spread like fire, as a silver coating covered his body. His mind became, not just connected to his new body, but became one with Brother Eye. He didn't need his computers anymore, he was the system now. Everything could happen much faster. He could see now, hundreds of ways to break Oracles system, yet that wasn't enough anymore. With his eyes now glowing and his feet rising off the ground, he soared above Gotham and surveyed the masterpiece he created. It was all worth it.
Everything.
