Barbara frowned. No IDs on these guys... that was... well that wasn't normal.
She sighed. "Scan the area with your night vision goggles. Maybe something landed nearby."
She rubbed her cheek in thought. "Are you certain? Just that gravesite?"

"well this graveyard is huge and I didn't check every grave, but yeah i'm pretty sure" She put the night vision goggles and scanned the area. "I don't see anything...do you?"

Barbara sighed weakly. What if these guys really didn't have any identification with them? This case could wind up turning cold.
She couldn't let that happen.
Gripping the arm rest onto her chair, Barbara tapped into the calibration for Black Canary's S.T.A.R.L.I.T.E. lenses, allowing her to review what was previously scanned by her eyes.
Nothing at the moment was coming up. She shook her head.
Something just wasn't right.
"What could Joker be doing in the graveyard to begin with?" She was asking herself the question out loud more than to her partner.
"Something had to have been there to peek Joker's interest."

"Does the name Sarah Essen ring a bell to you?" Dinah continued looking around for any other evidence.

Well, Oxy-Clean turned out to be a total waste of time. He finished his root beer, tossed the can on the floor, and got up to go to the van. He climbed up in the back and shoved it out the door, making it land on the ground with a loud thud. He hopped back out and began sliding it down a long hallway, entering the last room on his right side.
When he entered the door he looked around to survey the stage. He had the chairs all set up with chains attached to keep his future guests in their seats. He had several cameras positioned around the studio. His very own TV show was coming together and he couldn't help but grin. The old Gotham City Broadcasting Station was going to be the place where magic happened... at least magic in the mind of a psychopath.

Barbara blinked a few times. Did... she hear her correctly?
"Suh-- Sara Essen?" Barbara felt as if her heart had sank to her stomach.
All memories of Sara and her father smiling, enjoying happier times flooded through her mind. And then suddenly Joker's dark grin, a bullet..... the babies... the young innocent babies playing in her step mother's blood as she lay lifeless clutching one of the smaller infants.
She gasped weakly as the surge of emotion hit her like a ton of bricks.
She choked. "She... she and my father... she... wuh-- was like... a mother to me."
She inhaled weakly and closed her eyes. "What's... wrong with her grave site, Dinah?"

"i...I'm sorry...." She could hear the emotion in Barbara's voice and she hated having to make anything worse but she didn't have a choice. "her grave has been dug up....The casket is empty..." She sighed and continued to look around.

Barbara had a hard time keeping her hands steady. They were shaking so badly that she forced herself to grip onto her arm rests of her wheelchair to secomb the unintentional movements. Someone.... or Joker dug up her step-mother's grave.
But why?
She really didn't want to think of the specifics. She just knew that it was going to hurt.... especially once she reported it to the Gotham PD. Though, she knew once her father got ahold of the news he was going to be so overcome with grief and emotion there would be no telling what could happen.
Her hand clasped over her mouth as her mind raced a mile a minute, thinking of the possible reasons why anyone would want to steal a body that had been already laid to rest.
"Why would anyone want to disturb those who are already at peace?" she asked weakly, not realizing that her comm was still on. Her eyes were welling up at the thought. "That's so disrespectful... so.... VILE."
She gripped the arm rest of her wheelchair, her nails digging into it fiercely. A few more ounces of pressure could have easily broken her left hand by the way she was gripping it so tightly.
She was enraged and she knew something needed to be done... and quickly.
"I'm calling Batman." she told Canary finally. "I think this may be a bit bigger than we anticipated."
And with that, she opened a channel. "Batman... we have a situation." She then proceeded to tell him of the events.

The night after the kidnapping of what was left of Sarah Essen, Joker was on to the next name on his list. Standing in an alley with his hat and overcoat on, he watched the parking lot of police headquarters. Joker took a quick glance at his watch. The time was absolutely incorrect, but he was only interested in how long he'd been waiting.
When he glanced back up he finally saw the target. Leaving the building and approaching their car, it amused Joker how a cop could seem so oblivious to what was about to happen. Joker slipped out of the alley to catch up with his prey. He knew he didn't need to rush, seeing as how his target wouldn't be able to get in their car fast enough to get away. Saran wrap was a beautiful thing.
As the cop looked at their car in confusion Joker crept up behind them. They turned to look to see who was coming, but as soon as they faced him, Joker threw a punch that knocked them out cold.
Dragging the unconscious cop to a car he had waiting near by Joker smiled. 'Two down, ' he thought. He then opened the trunk of his car, put Renee Montoya into it, and slammed it shut.

Through the following evening, Barbara didn't bother leaving her terminal. She stayed hidden within the green hue that her monitors and holo-projectors casted. The mechanical gears that kept the clocks working in the background came as a lucid song which intricately laced with the hum of her terminals.
Hearing the all-to familiar ring of the telephone, she patched the call through her ear piece and continued to let her eyes scan across her screens.
"Hello?"
"Barbara?"
Barbara smiled weakly. "Daddy...!" One voice she was truly happy to hear was the voice of her father, James Gordon. "It's great to hear your voice!"
"It's great to hear yours too, pumpkin." he responded. The hint of a smile was in his voice as he spoke. "I thought I would call in to check up on you. Are things going okay?"
"Things are just fine." she said, while thumbing through a small notebook. "A little busy from time to time... I'm sure you know how it is."
"Of course. Oh hey-- You'll never guess what??"
"What's that?" she smiled, cheerily.
"Guess who got a pair of Gotham Knights tickets for next Saturday's big game against the Monarchs??"
Barbara giggles weakly. Leave it to her father to always manage to get his hands on a set of ballgame tickets. "Oh.. I don't know... YOU?"
Gordon chuckled whole-heartedly. "That's right. And you know who I'm going to bring with me?"
"Oh... I don't know.... your daughter?? I'm hoping?"
Smiling from the other end, Gordon walked into Police Headquarters and into his office. "That's riiight. I mean.. that is if you'd want to go with an old man like me..."
"Oh daddy, PUH-leeze. You know I'd be more than happy to go with you--" Barbara listened closely for a long moment. Something... seemed different about Gordon's voice. "Am I having sound issues? Why does it suddenly sound like there's an echo when you speak?"
Taking a seat at his desk, Gordon thumbed through some of his papers. "I'm in my office at the station. That might be the cause--"
At that moment a younger police officer walked in. Male, late twenties, clad in blue. "Sir-- I don't mean to interrupt... but Montoya was supposed to be here an hour ago to show up for patrol and she hasn't showed-- No one seems to know where she's at. Mendez said--"
Jim waved his hand to the young officer. "Okay. One minute, Rogers." Placing his phone better to his mouth. "I'm sorry pumpkin, I've got to get to work. I'll talk to you a little bit later, okay?"
Having listening into the entire conversation, Barbara arched an eyebrow. "Okay, daddy... I'll call you a bit later. Love you."
"Love you too." and with that, Jim folded his cell phone and replaced it into his pocket.
Barbara sat for a minute and disconnected the call. From overhearing the small bit of conversation she gathered that Renee Montoya was missing when she was supposed to be out on patrol.
That's really not like Renee. she frowned.
"How strange...."
Reaching over, she hit a button that paged through to Canary's line. "Hey-- you busy?"

Dinah browsed through the store not really looking for anything just trying to kill some time. She smiled as she heard the familiar voice go off in her ear.
"I'm never busy for you." She smiled and continued looking. "What's up?"

Barbara chuckled weakly at her response. "That sounded a bit alluring there, Dinah." Barbara joked, holding her grin.
"I'm not really sure if anything IS up at the moment.. but I just got off the phone with my father and I overheard some of the things in the background. Something just... doesn't seem right.
"One of the officers in the background mentioned that Renee Montoya didn't come into work... and I know that you know Renee. It's.. not in her character to miss her patrol.
"I don't know for sure if this is anything.. but would you mind expanding your patrol to cover Helena's area tonight? Keep an eye out for anything... suspicious...?"

"If you could keep your patrol within a 2 mile radius of the police station, that would be great. Just sweep the area... keep your eyes open."
Barbara's fingers rolled over her holoscreens weakly and rubbed her cheek. "As for time.... if you could get there the sooner, the better."
