"how do you half think?" Dinah questioned as she looked around trying to find the "old" section.
"and yes he is super cocky and I can't wait to kick his ass next time we meet..." Dinah sighed as she looked around.
"there are like a zillion books here....we should have waited till they were open and I could have someone else find it for me"

Barbara could only grin at her friend's question. "It was a figure of a speech." She knew Dinah knew that, but she had to say it for humor's sake.
"You'll get your chance, I'm sure..."
Barbara's eyes went to scanning her own system, looking for any hits on anything that may happen to come up that would help their research. "Can't risk it... It just seems safer to do this when there aren't any others around. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy jumped right out of a book."
Barbara mused and started singing through her com. "'Take a Look! It's in a boook. Reeeading raaainbo--'"
She was tired.
"Oh. There. hang a right down that section there. Look through the system for a book with the decimal tag: Art 347.891"

"I thought your computer thingy was all powerful, why can't you just find this info on that thing?" Dinah pulled out her little flashlight and headed down the stack looking for the book.
"here it is....." she pulled it out. "can this book be any bigger?" She blew off some of the dust causing her to cough.
"anything else you would like me to check out for you? I'm sure they have a great kids section..."

"if I could have pulled the information from my computer, you wouldn't be taking this magical trip to the land of books." she mused.
"I can get a lot of books and other references to come up for me..." she explained. "But some of the older, more elusive books... not so much. And I can't find anything about this sword out in the open. This just happens to be one of those rare situations."
She raised an eyebrow at Dinah's comment. She grinned weakly. "Maybe one of those Nancy Drew books if you happen to come across any." She was joking, of course.
"You might have to sit there a while while you thumb through the book... See if you can find anything about magical artifacts. Or magical trinkets..."

"aww why do I have to read the giant book? Can't I just bring it back to you? its not like they will notice that one book is missing out of the gazillions here...." she whined.
"I thought we were supposed to be staying awake, this will put me to sleep for sure...."

"You don't have to really read through it, per se. Just.. thumb through it and look for anything that jumps out at you."
Barbara smirked listening to her whining. "If we take the book.. that would be stealing. We can't just... take it. That wouldn't be right..."

"But i'll bring it back when we are done with it....don't people check books out of here all the time? we are just doing it after hours...."
Dinah found a seat and started looking through the book. "okay some of this isn't even in english....."
she yawned as she continued to flip through the pages looking for anything that might pertain to their situation. She shifted slight to try and take some strain off of her back, that jack ass really did a number on her but she wasn't going to admit how much it hurt.
"not seeing anything as of yet"

Barbara's earlier career as a librarian just wouldn't allow her to take the book without proper documentation. Besides, the book was pretty old and probably only one of a few that happened to be around. She couldn't risk damaging it or worse-- losing it. She shuddered at the thought. "I know some of the points to this job really isn't that glamorous, but we've got to do what we've got to do."
As Dinah kept flipping the pages, she made sure to take snap shots of each of the pages. "Just keep flipping through the book. Don't bother reading it. I'm getting hi-res images of each of the pages as you go through them so if anything pops up, I've got a script looking for key words. We'll have our own digital copy of the book."

From the back east section of the library, a darkened figure slipped in through one of the back windows. He slipped on his way in as his chin collided with the hard carpeted floor of the wing. He grumbled to himself as he pulled himself up, pulling his black hoodie over his head.
He had to admit that getting into the library was a lot easier than normal. He really would have thought an alarm would have sounded.... or something.

"good cause this book is boring" Dinah continued to flip through the pages as Barbara copied them.
"only about 500 more pages to go!" she said a little sarcastically.
"I bet you spent a lot of time in here when you were younger....not that it is a bad thing or anything, just seems more you in here" she smiled.
"I was never much of the library type, i'm sure that shocks you, I spent more time on the playground beating all the boys in everything."

Barbara's continued to let her computer catch each page as Dinah flipped though. "I... did, actually..." Barbara's gaze followed down to her shoulder where she had previously been stabbed by the 'dream sword.' She still didn't want to believe that something from her dream actually made an imprint on her waking life. Though, after seeing what happened to Dinah's back... she knew this was a serious matter.
Whatever it was that broke through the dream and reality barrier had to have been something strong.
"The library was always a refuge for me." she confessed. "I never really fit in with any of the other girls at school. Never fit in at school ever really.." she frowned, in thinking. "Books always gave me that added sense of adventure I could never really have."
Barbara's eye caught something out of the corner of one of the library's security cameras she was keeping tabs on. "Uh-- Dinah... someone else is in the building--"
The dark figure in the hoodie was trying to be as quiet and as smooth as he could. However, he wasn't making good progress in the 'smooth' department.
As he made his way downstairs, he managed to trip again. This time on his shoelaces.
He seethed as his knee hit the wall.
Yeah. 'Smooth' he was not.
He sighed as he bent down to tie his shoe. At least no one was there in the library. He wouldn't have to worry about clumsily falling into someone or anything.
He peeked around the corner, his nerves getting the better of him. "Okay.." he whispered to himself. "Just... get in and take any book that might be a problem and you're home free..."

"what!" Dinah quickly snapped to attention at the mention of her company. She listened for any sounds to direct her. Luckily her intruder wasn't being very quiet, actually sounded like he fell down the stairs...
Dinah quickly and silently found her prey in the east wing, she debated on how to proceed finally she decided.
"The library is closed" she smiled as he seemed to jump 3 feet as her sudden outburst startled him.

The young man in the hoodie was startled to see someone actually THERE in the library with him. No one was supposed to be there! It was after hours...!
Who was this--
THAT was when he recognized her.
Black Canary.
He had tangoed with her before. Only... not in the waking world. He was too timid to do anything there.
He was nervous. "I uh.... I... know??" He didn't know what to do. He didn't want his ass kicked.
Though deep down, he had to wonder what SHE was doing there.
THINK fast--!
He would have to come back later most likely to get business completed. "I... fell asleep.." he said. A lie. But hopefully it was good enough to pass. He pointed upstairs. "I was in the other wing... doing research for a college paper and... I got locked in."
Yeah.. that was good.
He hoped she bought it....

"is that so?" She arched her eyebrow. The kid was to scared and timid to be any threat to her so she relaxed slightly.
"well lucky for you I am here to rescue you... follow me" She led him to the back door.
"O can you unlock the back door for me?" she said quietly so he wouldn't hear her.
"what kinda research were you doing?"

He very carefully started to follow her. His eyes occasionally turning back to look over his shoulder. Apparently his prize was going to have to wait... But right now? he couldn't risk it. At least it seemed that his story was attempting to work it's magic on her. At least that was a win scenario.
"Yeah.... I've been... cramming for a history test..." Another lie. He really hated school. He dropped out many semesters ago. "Plus a paper. It... literally... put me to sleep." he chuckled weakly, trying to play it off.
From her monitor, Barbara continued to watch as events unfolded. A.... kid...? Forgotten about in the library?
"Yeah.. no problem..." she said back to Dinah as she typed in a string of code to allow the library's door to override. "Should be unlocked for you."

"Alright then..." Dinah opened the door. "good luck on your test and have a good night" she moved so he could go through. At least he didn't seem to question who she was and why she was there. Though part of her was angry if he actually thought she would work in a place like this.....
Dinah shut the door behind him and went back up to her own little study table to finish with her giant book.
" did you ever get yourself accidently locked in a library?"
